Nkululeko Leonard Sowazi: Non-Executive Chairman

Nkululeko is the non-executive Chairman of Kagiso Tiso Holdings (KTH), a leading South African Investment holding company with significant interests in the media, financial services and industrial sectors. He is also the Executive Chairman and co-founder of the Tiso Investment Holdings, a diversified Pan African investment holding company with business interests in South Africa and Ghana.

Nkululeko has over 25 years’ senior executive experience in investment management and commercial leadership, with both listed and unlisted companies and specifically with owner-managed teams. He serves on JSE listed companies Grindrod Ltd, MTN Group Ltd and Tiso Blackstar Group SE (UK). He also serves as the Chairman of Bud Chemicals and Minerals, a subsidiary of the Bud Group, and he serves as non-executive director of Bud Group and IQ Holdings. In addition, Nkululeko serves on a number of not-for-profit organizations. He is a co-founder trustee of the Tiso Foundation and Chairman of the Housing for HIV Foundation based in Washington D.C.

Nkululeko holds a Masters degree from the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA).

Bryan Arlow: Non-Executive Director

Bryan is a Chartered Accountant with previous experience across the global banking sector. He joined Bayport Management Limited in 2004 and, for 11 years, fulfilled the role of Bayport CFO. This role expanded to include Credit, Risk, Financial Modelling and Legal and Compliance at a Group level. In May 2015, Bryan was appointed as CEO of Bayport SA and in August 2018 he handed over the reins to Alfred Ramosedi in order to resume a leadership role in Bayport Management Limited as Group COO. The Group COO role includes overseeing the South African operation as Group Country Director and serving as Non-Executive Director on the Bayport SA Board.

Grant Colin Kurland: Non-Executive Director

Grant studied for three years towards a Bachelor in Business Science in Actuarial Science at UCT before joining Nando’s in 1992, where he developed Nando’s franchises abroad, including several African countries. In 1999, he joined Credit Direct, a micro-credit operation, which was acquired by ABIL in 2000. Grant was appointed the head of sales at ABIL, and was responsible for designing its branch and mobile business models, which have become the benchmark in the South African micro-lending industry. Grant co-founded Bayport Management Ltd together with Stuart Stone, and is now the joint group CEO of Bayport Management Ltd.

Stuart Stone: Non-Executive Director

Stuart, a chartered accountant and a highly successful entrepreneur, is currently the joint group CEO of Bayport Management Ltd. Stuart was a founding shareholder in several successful businesses including Credit Direct, a joint venture with African Bank Investments Limited [ABIL]. Upon selling the remaining equity to ABIL, Stuart and the rest of his team joined ABIL and helped bed down their various acquisitions and strategies. Stuart co-founded Bayport together with Grant Kurland.

Alfred Ramosedi: Executive Director

Alfred holds a B.Com degree and an MBA and has over 25 years’ experience in banking and financial services, having held senior positions in both Nedbank and ABSA before he joined African Bank in 2012 and Bayport in 2017. He is a qualified Chartered Management Accountant (CIMA) and a previous Chairman of CIMA in South Africa. Alfred’s career spans roles ranging from Head of Private Bank, Head of Distribution and Group Executive: Sales and Marketing. An experienced senior executive, Alfred has extensive experience in leading businesses. After a year as Deputy CEO of Bayport SA, Alfred was appointed as CEO of Bayport SA in August 2018 and serves as Executive Director on the Bayport SA Board.

Santosh Lalloo: Non-Executive Director

Santosh is a qualified chartered accountant. Prior roles before joining the Private Equity division of the PIC, include being a member of the advisory division at EY. His experience extends to multiple asset classes, sectors and projects. Investment experience includes unlisted as well as listed securities, developed over a broad asset class which includes real estate, financial services and consumer facing sectors.
